Spring / Summer 2013 Gentleman's Style Guide

With the weather not letting its grip loosen on winter for us Brits it’s been hard to start thinking about what to fill our spring and summer wardrobes with.  However, with the snow now firmly behind us we take a look at SS13 trends for the fashion forward gentleman and how to pick timeless classics with a nod towards the now.

Sports Jacket Staple

Functional attire is inspiring fashion designers to bring back traditional patterns and fabrics on the catwalks complete with quality cuts and clean silhouettes.
This is particularly apparent in gent’s blazers and sports jackets, which are set to be favoured in classic check patterns this spring/summer.
Whether you opt for a plaid tweed, overcheck twill or houndstooth, a quality sports jacket is a must for any gentleman’s wardrobe this spring/summer.

Colour Trend: Blue

Whether in the form of tailoring or tonal outfitting, one of this season’s trends is the utilisation of colour.  And it seems that good old-fashioned blue has made it to the forefront.
It may not seem like a menswear ground breaking trend, but it did have a huge presence in multiple hues within this season’s designer collections.
Good old reliable blue made an appearance ranging from cobalt and navy to sky and pastel so it’s good news for those of you that already have a wardrobe full of blue!

 Pattern Trend: Stripes

Spring / Summer is probably the best time of year to experiment with bolder patterns.  If big, loud patterns aren't for you then this season’s stripe trend is a good opportunity to play around with patterns.  Although nautical inspired pieces continue to remain a popular choice, this season’s stripes are being adopted in more varied ways.  From pinstripe to Breton, there is a stripe for everyone.

If all else fails just remember to keep lines clean, colours bold and patterns not too fussy and you’ll be well on your way to being well turned out this Spring/Summer.
